Mid-Michigan Energy is committed to meet or surpass environmental regulations

Environmental laws and regulations are in place to ensure protection of human health and the environment.  The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency oversee the permitting and operations of the plant to ensure it is designed and operated in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

The project is subject to different, more stringent regulations than older coal-fired plants which are exempt from certain Clean Air Act requirements.

The project will produce substantially fewer emissions than coal-fired power plants currently operating in Michigan. Hundreds of millions of dollars will be spent to install environmental technologies to reduce emissions from the plant including a modern and efficient combustion system and the best available post-combustion emission controls.
