Fulfill local and state-wide energy needs

The cost and availability of energy is critical to the sustainability and growth of industry in Michigan and, more specifically, in and around Midland.

A fiscal and economic study evaluating the construction and operations of the project in Midland is being conducted. The results of this study will be made available once it is complete.

Economic and Fiscal Impact Study

Anderson Economic Group completed an economic and fiscal impact study which estimates that construction of the plant will create an average of 1,500 jobs in the tri-county region during each of the 4 years of construction, peaking at 2,631 in 2011, and will cause over $381 million in additional earnings in Midland, Saginaw, and Bay Counties between 2009 and 2013.  During plant operations, beginning in 2013, the plant is estimated to generate 241 new jobs in the tri-county region, with total new earnings in the region of $13.9 million annually.
